with a focus on content creation. The primary responsibility of a SA is to enable

SAs do this by engaging directly with engineering teams to take that knowledge
and transform it into formats appropriate to a wide audience. SAs will also
work with customers to understand their requirements, specifically what
solutions are most important to them and how the related content should be
A Solutions Architect needs to have
a wide and deep set of skills: SAs need to understand how the various services
that make up an IaaS platform integrate to enable solutions; they need to be
technical enough to consume details from engineers and up-level those details
for customers. They must have excellent written English communication skills in
multiple formats (Word, PP, Markdown, etc). A SA needs to understand the the
value of IaaS/SaaS/PaaS solutions so that they can develop content that bridges
the divide between OCI engineers, customer engineers and customer business
owners. A SA needs to be to understand how changes to the platform impact
existing content and be able to manage that technical debt.
SAs will work with other Oracle
groups to develop and publish content in multiple formats including product
documentation, blogs posts, audio/video presentations, webinars, presentations
to both small and large groups, etc. SAs will also own a large set of OCI
overview material that will enable the compute organization to engage
effectively with both pre and post sales customers.
For any given solution a Solutions Architects deliverable
will typically include one or more of;
An abstract that describes the business
challenge and OCI solution.
oWhere there are multiple potential solutions
it s critical that customers have clear guidance to help choose between them.
The SA will own the creation of that guidance.
A document that details the challenge and
solution(s) in detail.
A set of diagrams or drawings that describe the
solution visually.
An analysis of the customers costs both
operationally and financially.
SAs need to be emblematic of several of our values;
Act Now, Iterate and Expect as well as Embrace
Change -
oThe platform changes quickly, anything published
this month will need to be updated next. This can be frustrating for some
people, it needs to be an exciting challenge for a CM.
Nail the Basics
oWhen we re enabling customers getting the
details right is critical. Without this we can't earn their trust. A SA must be
obsessive in the details.
Put Customers First
oWe can't enable customers if we don't understand
them. A good SA will understand their audience and be able to develop content
from that perspective.
