Practice Lead/Manager (Contract)

Location: City of London Country: UK
 

Our client is currently looking to hire a Practice Lead/Manager to be part of their IT Change & Transformation division.

Duration: 6 months

Rate: Negotiable - Inside IR35 (Umbrella)

Location: Hybrid working - London, Norwich, Bristol, York - 2 Days Per Week ideally

Job Responsibilities:

Create and maintain a centre of excellence for Change practices and capabilities in order to ensure the required within the departments. All portfolio outcomes are delivered to time, cost and quality. This covers Change roles supporting UK companies deliveries, including IT Business Partners, Heads of Delivery, Project/Programme Managers, Business Analysts, Transformation Managers, PMO, etc.

Support the companies business to improve its Change resource fluidity, uplift capability across the core role types and drive efficiencies into its Change delivery model.

Identify forward looking skill and size requirements for UKGI portfolio delivery and develop a strategic roadmap (at least 3 years), with a focus on training, recruitment, and capability requirements.

Resource Alignment:

  • Accountable for identifying, measuring and tracking resource fluidity across the UKGI change portfolio
  • Working with the IT Business Partners and Portfolio Leads to ensure resource is deployed in line with GI and CIO priorities, taking into account inter-dependencies, upskilling requirements and career aspirations
  • Working with resource managers to agree the optimum resource mix to meet current and future year deliveries, including the percentage of permanent resources, contractors and Global Sourcing Partners (GSPs)

Change Capability:

  • Accountable for uplift in Change & Transformation capability in line with the defined success criteria and set goals
  • Accountable for owning the creation and tracking of productivity measures
  • Creating and embedding a defined Career Framework for core change delivery roles
  • Responsible for the effective spend of the training and development budget for GI COO
  • Ensuring that all change professionals have a personal development plan (PDP) captured in the company
  • Accountable for recommending development plans, training and qualifications based on external expert know how and analysis of previous experience

Strategic Planning:

  • Accountable for defining future Change & Transformation resource requirements and roadmap for at least a rolling three years based on UKGI portfolio spend

This includes:

  • Defining the required size, shape and capability mix of the resource pools
  • Identifying the role types, attributes and behaviours required to deliver successfully
  • Creating upskilling/training/recruitment plans to ensure the right skills are available at the right time
  • Thinking creatively to identify and trial new approaches/ways of working to drive efficiency and better outcomes
  • Leverage strong internal relationships to ensure the GI COO is aligned with the wider Group approach
  • Build an awareness of industry trends, assessing their impact to UKGI delivery and proposing action where necessary.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • New technologies and associated technical skills
  • Innovations in the shape and structure of Change delivery approaches
  • Different role types and/or ways of working
  • Drive robust succession planning and forward looking development, including arranging coaching/mentors where required

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Strong knowledge of the companies Change Framework or equivalent approach(es)
  • Ability to rapidly gain knowledge of Business/Customer needs and drivers for change
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management experience as well political awareness
  • Strong and effective coaching and influencing skills to drive the necessary changes
  • Understanding of IT and Business strategy
  • Willingness to try new ways of working and solutions (fail fast)
  • Allocation of Business Analysts or Project Manager
  • Headcount Allocation and future Headcount Forecasting/Planning
  • Track record of IT and Business project delivery either within the Insurance or Financial Services sector.
  • Professional level of accreditation preferred (eg, Prince 2)
